Getting By With a Little Help from the Braves
Thank you, Ted Turner! Your boys beat the Astros tonight, and we managed to beat the Brewers and thus the Magic Number went from 4 to 2. We are far from out of the woods, but, to quote Toni Braxton, I do feel like I can breathe again.
Weaver wasn’t flawless but he demonstrated command and patience and only gave up 3 runs. As usual, Pujols provided the punch, launching a 3-run homer as the Cards batted around in the 5th. Of course, the bullpen gave up a few runs (two solo shots in a row off Flores), but nearly everyone contributed to the scoring, which was great to see.
I have a good feeling about tomorrow’s game, since Suppan has a great record against the boys who brew. Let’s go, Redbirds! Let’s go, Braves!
