Vince Coleman Got Run Over By a Rain Tarp

Tarp

Coleman

Vince Coleman got run over by a rain tarp,
daydreaming on the field playoffs eve.
You can say there’s no such think as bad luck.
But as for me and Whitey, we believe.

He’d been drinkin’ too much Gatorade,
and we begged him not to go.
But he wanted to warm up.
So he dashed out, sprinting like a pro.

When they found him Game Four eve,
dazed and pinned ‘neath the tarp,
There was a bone chip in his knee.
He’d seen an angel with a harp.

Vince Coleman got run over by a rain tarp,
daydreaming on the field playoffs eve.
You can say there’s no such think as bad luck.
But as for me and Whitey, we believe.

We were all so proud of Whitey.
He took the news pretty darn well.
Substituted Tito Landrum,
whose jerri curl and four hits were swell!

It just wasn’t the same without Vince.
We got the pennant but no I-70 series win.
We all can’t help but wonder, with Vince’s speed,
would the Royals have taken it on the chin?

Vince Coleman got run over by a rain tarp,
daydreaming on the field playoffs eve.
You can say there’s no such think as bad luck.
But as for me and Whitey, we believe.

Now the Cards just won the series,
and the killer tarp we’ve nearly forgot.
Vince Coleman has long since retired.
He probably even bought a yacht.

I warn all the Cardinal players.
Better watch out, Yadi and Jim.
Look both ways before crossing the field.
The rain tarp may strike again.

Vince Coleman got run over by a rain tarp,
daydreaming on the field playoffs eve.
You can say there’s no such think as bad luck.
But as for me and Whitey, we believe
