Yay, TLR signed a 2-year deal yesterday to stay with the Cards. I greet this news with tremendous relief. This gives me confidence that the Cards management is committed to winning next season, or Tony no doubt would have taken a hike. It’s also good this is a 2-year deal so we won’t have to worry about this for a while , which is good because we have plenty of other things to worry about.
Like most Cards’ fans, I sometimes get frustrated with Tony and the way he seems to overthink things, but still I’d much rather have the team in his hands than anyone else’s. His record speaks for itself, as does the loyalty shown to him by players like Edmonds, Isringhausen and Pujols.
Tony declared that one of his first priorities would be mending fences with Scott Rolen. Personally, I wouldn’t mind if we just traded Rolen and started over. I’m more interested in us hanging on to Eckstein.
Anyway, thanks, Tony, for sticking with us in the Lou and not being tempted by the bright lights, big city of NY.
