America’s Pastime at Burning Man

IMG_4445.jpg

I’m back from the playa. This was my 2nd trip to Burning Man and this time I stayed 11 days which was about 5 days too long.  The dust storms and heat took their toll on me, not to mention all the work involved in setting up two art projects.  But the art and creativity was truly inspiring.

At Burning Man, there’s no TV, cell phones, or internet. One of the hardest things about being off the grid for me is not being able to keep up with the Cardinals, but it looks like I didn’t miss much other than a sad decline.  At least I found one baseball-related art installation on the playa – the impressive “Bat Country”. It was a jungle gym constructed of aluminum softball bats and softballs.

Visit the artist’s website to learn more about it.

Can we do it??? October seems so attainable and at the same time……so…..not. We really gotta sweep the Pirates or at the very least, take 2 from there. Or else I will officially declare the season OVER.
